Permabond ES5516 is a single-part, heat-cure epoxy adhesive engineered for bonding magnets in electric motors and other high-performance assemblies. Developed for Class H motor applications, ES5516 withstands high temperatures up to 180°C while maintaining excellent structural strength.
It is lightly thixotropic, allowing easy application, and can be tacked in place with UV light before heat curing – making assembly fast, accurate, and efficient.
Key Features and Benefits:
Single-part, heat-cure epoxy adhesive
UV-tackable for precise positioning before cure
Excellent resistance to vibration and shock
High shear strength for structural assemblies
Maintains bond strength at temperatures up to 180°C
Good chemical resistance
UV fluorescence for in-line quality control
Typical Applications:
Bonding magnets in synchronous and electric motors
Fixing small, close-fitting parts where clamping is difficult
High temperature structural bonding in motors and electronics
Assemblies requiring Class H performance and reliability
Performance Highlights:
Shear strength up to 29 N/mm² on stainless steel
Maintains significant bond strength at 150–180°C
Impact strength 25–35 kJ/m²
Hardness >75 Shore D
Operates from -40°C to +180°C
Storage & Handling:
Store between 2–7°C. Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and grease-free before application. Light abrasion of metals such as aluminium or copper alloys can further improve adhesion.
