CMR-Free UV Masking for Precise Protection

Hoenle Adhesives introduces Vitralit® MASK E-20131, a UV- and visible light-curable masking material designed to simplify temporary protection processes in demanding industrial and medical manufacturing applications.

This innovative masking material protects critical surfaces during media blasting, aggressive cleaning, polishing, and other surface treatment processes. It offers fast curing, excellent flexibility, and easy peel removal without leaving residue.

Designed for Medical Device Manufacturing

Specifically developed for orthopedic implant manufacturing, Vitralit® MASK E-20131 has passed ISO 10993-5 biocompatibility testing. This solvent-free, one-component acrylate system provides reliable temporary masking and protective coating performance for demanding manufacturing requirements.

Its CMR-free formulation and shear-thinning rheology enable precise, controlled application, even on complex geometries.

Key Features and Benefits

  • Fast Curing: Cures within seconds using compatible UV or visible light systems.
  • Precise Application: Suitable for syringe dispensing, brushing, dipping, spraying, and automated application.
  • Residue-Free Removal: Peels away easily after processing without leaving residue.
  • Excellent Flexibility: Approximately 210% elongation at break.
  • Wide Operating Temperature Range: Typically from -45°C to +145°C.
  • Improved Visibility: Translucent green color helps operators inspect application and removal.
  • LED Compatibility: Compatible with 365 nm and 405 nm LED curing systems.
  • Solvent-Free Formulation: Supports streamlined manufacturing and post-processing.

Reliable Protection for Surface Treatment

High-value cobalt, titanium, stainless steel, and other alloy components often require selective surface treatment. Vitralit® MASK E-20131 protects designated areas against aggressive processing conditions, including media blasting, plating, painting, and cleaning.

Its controlled flow properties help ensure consistent coverage while reducing the risk of unwanted material flow. The material can also be softened through a short soak in 80°C hot water, making removal easier after processing.

Optimized for Modern Manufacturing

Vitralit® MASK E-20131 can be integrated into manual or automated production workflows. When combined with Hoenle UV/LED curing systems, it offers opportunities to improve process consistency, reduce rework, and increase production efficiency.

Availability

Vitralit® MASK E-20131 is available immediately and complements Hoenle Adhesives’ established range of light-curable masking materials for industrial manufacturing, medical technology, and aerospace applications.

The material will also be featured at COMPAMED 2026, taking place in DĂ¼sseldorf, Germany, from November 16–19, 2026. Visit Hoenle Adhesives at booth 8A R27.
